Salt-air corrosion: the invisible cost of a coastal address
Every property within roughly a kilometre of the coast — Bondi to Coogee, and around the harbour foreshores of Double Bay and Rose Bay — is exposed to airborne salts that accelerate corrosion of steel lintels, reinforcement in concrete, and metal fixings. The result is spalling concrete on balconies, rusted window lintels, and premature failure of roof plumbing and gutter fixings.
Our coastal inspections specifically assess every visible steel element, sound concrete surfaces for delamination, and rate the corrosion category (C3 to C5 under AS 4312) for the property location.
