The dominant termite species across Sydney is Coptotermes acinaciformis — an aggressive subterranean feeder responsible for most residential damage claims in NSW. On the North Shore and Northern Beaches we also see Schedorhinotermes intermedius, a shy species that produces less obvious mud tubing but similar levels of damage.

Both species need moisture and undisturbed access to timber to build a colony. Our inspection focuses on the environmental conditions that attract them — bridging over ant-caps, garden beds against slab edges, sub-floor moisture, and untreated timber in contact with soil.

Traditional termite inspection relies on visual signs — mud tubes, damaged timber, discarded wings. That works for advanced infestations, but early-stage activity is often invisible.
